baby blues

Photobucket

Last week was rough...for me anyway, no one else seemed to notice. In fact, a few were downright excited.

We took Zoe's crib down, this was and is HUGE for me. Zoe is now happily sleeping in the trundle below Grace's bed. She has not had a nap in there yet, but the girl is pretty random and rare with her naps so I don't expect much. I am happy that we now have more space in their room for more babies and dressups but it breaks my heart.

The crib is nothing special, but to me it was everything. We bought it six months before we even conceived Sage (my aunt got us a deal on the $1100 crib for $250)! It was the very first thing we bought for our future children. Fast forward eight plus years and countless purchases later, and this crib has been the peaceful resting place for all three of my children. The paint is missing on most of the railing (Grace loved to bite it) I would go in and get her only to find paint chips all over her face. No one could love this crib with missing paint and teeth marks as much as I do.

The crib is now residing in the garage as JJ was threatened with his life not to get rid of it. I have some weird attachments and this is one of them. I am not ready to get rid of our crib...and maybe I never will be. I still have our glider/rocker in the girls room and I may keep that forever too, after all I nursed all my babies in it (weird, I know)!

We are now trying to convince Zoe that she is a big girl and big girls don't wear diapers, they pee in the potty. Not this big girl, she pees on the floor if a diaper is absent. Wish me luck, my little diva is going to give me a run for my money.

Easter eggs are dyed and we are headed south for spring break in the desert. I have some of the best memories of going to Goblin Valley when I was a kid, hopefully my kids will have some too!

Ramblings

Photobucket

Daffodils are one of my favorite flowers, I love that they are one of the very first signs of spring at my house, I love their bright color and I love that they are still happy even when they are being weighed down by snow.

I wish I could be more like a daffodil today, I wish I did not care about the weather. Why do I get so bummed about Spring every year? Why do I always long for warm sunny days when I know this is how it works around here and Spring snow, rain and cold drags on for months?

I have said it before and I will say it again...if we didn't love our families and friends so much, I would have talked JJ into moving us to a warmer climate years ago. But like I said, we love being close to our families and so here we are in Utah with what feels like endless winters AND snow on my daffodils.

These two don't seem to care about the weather, they are happy no matter what the weather. Diego, Dora and Dress-ups are the same regardless of what is happening outside.

A friend and I planned to get tickets to Taylor Swift and take our girls. She had 4 tickets to buy and I only had 2 so I planned to splurge a little more on the seats. The tickets went on sale at 10:00; I came home from Zumba and got online to order, my phone rang and in the time I took that call my seats had disappeared. After a few moments of panic I did get seats for Grace and I to go see Taylor Swift in Concert in September, (Grace loves Taylor Swift)!

I called my friend only to find out that she was trying on-line and via phone to get tickets right at 10:00 and she could not get 4 seats anywhere. It looks like it will be just Grace and I for now...and a million other Utah fans. If you have tickets, let me know; we can meet up!

And now I better get back to these two monkeys, they make me smile even if this weather does not!

April Already

Photobucket

I can't believe it's April already! I have lost track of weeks it seems, I was talking to Jeremy about Easter and Spring Break like it was months away when in reality it is just around the corner, I guess we better figure out what we are doing.

My friends and I had a great time in St. George and Las Vegas, the weather was not great but we shopped so much it didn't matter much. We ended up seeing Celine Dion's show in Vegas which was great and totally spur of the moment. It was so nice to shop, eat out, stay up way too late and lose all track of time without any worries about home for a few days. I came home more than a little sleep deprived and just in time to celebrate Jeremy's birthday.

And celebrate we did, for several days, dinner out with the kids, dinner with family, dinner with friends, in fact we have another dinner this week with friends celebrating a few birthdays...my bank account may be suffering a bit with all the dining, shopping and fun!

On Friday last week, Sage and I went to the the Ugly Bug Ball at his school. It was a moms and sons date night complete with dancing, treats and pictures. Sage was not quite sure how to act with his mom AND his friends but it was a good night. Sage and I don't get many chances to do something, just the two of us.

Now the kids and I are just waiting, waiting so patiently (or not so patiently) for spring to come. We have had a few teaser days of beautiful weather but not enough sun and warm to last. This week is supposed to be rainy again, at least we have an excuse to ignore the yardwork and outdoor projects!
