new family pics

Photobucket

We had our family pictures taken a few weeks ago by this incredible photographer... veronicareeve.com

I absolutely love all of the pictures with the kids and will now spend countless hours trying to decide what to order, where to put new pictures, which pictures to keep and which to replace of the kids (I still love the baby pics) etc. etc. Essentially I drive Jeremy nuts for a while until I am satisfied for a short while.

Sage and Grace are pretty used to the camera and did a great job. Grace is a little model in the making, she is hilarious!

Zoe did pretty well for a while but by the end she was getting pretty grumpy but I love some the expressions she got. With each of my kids, Veronica captured the perfect expressions, the ones that are completely them!

back to school

Photobucket

Sage started back to school today...second grade! It is pretty quiet around here today, not as quiet as it will be next week when Grace starts kindergarten too!

He was excited to go back and I am ready for him to be back in school.
Photobucket

Last week I had a back to school party for the kids and there were a whole lot of kids from the neighborhood who came to slide and have water gun fights. We had at least 20+ kids, I was worn out and am not sure we will make that a tradition...but the kids loved it!

Photobucket

Sunday night we went with some friends to stay in Provo and then went to Seven Peaks all day Monday for a last hurrah before school. The kids had a great time and loved all of the slides and wave pool, the parents were exhausted and happy to send the kids off to school!

Zoe loved the brownies.

never say never

Photobucket

If there is one thing I have learned about being a parent it is to never say "NEVER"...everyone knows what I am talking about.

This has been especially true with Sage.

Over the years, I have watched our community and all of the little boys playing football early on, way too early I said. I used to argue with my brothers-in-law about it and swore we would never succumb to such nonsense. Ridiculous I used to say for a little kid to commit to such a sport and spend so much time practicing. What if he gets hurt? And what about the rest of the family? What about soccer which he also loves and directly conflicts with football in the fall? No way, no how..."NEVER", not us!

Photobucket

Fast forward to our reality which is that my little guy played his first football game yesterday and they won! He has been practicing with his team for a few weeks now. Seeing the smile on his face the first time he got to wear his pads and helmet to practice made it all worthwhile.

He was pretty nervous before his first game but once he got out there and made a few hits and plays he did great!

Photobucket

It took some serious talks between Sage, Jeremy and I to make the "football" decision but ultimately we left it up to Sage to decide and he really wanted to try football...I thought well with any luck, he won't like it and we won't have to worry about it next year. (I am not holding my breath on that one anymore because so far he loves it!)

The first few nights were essentially tryouts for the kids, there are three teams for his age group (age 8-10) they broke the kids up into groups and coaches watched each players skills and took notes. Then there was a draft of the boys, we had been hoping all along that Sage would end up on our neighbor's team. I got a call on my cell phone late the second night after tryouts from someone I did not know. He introduced himself as Sage's new coach and said he was thrilled to have him. He also said, I don't usually tell parents this but your son Sage was second pick!" That is out of over 40 boys! I could not stop smiling, a momma's pride is huge! We talked to our neighbor later and he said, sorry we wanted Sage but they got him first! Jeremy ran into a few of the other coaches and they all kept saying...your kid is good, really good! Jeremy has been and continues to be on cloud nine! I have never seen him quite like this...who knew football could do this to a guy?

So far the practices are going well, Sage is loving every second of it and I will admit my pride for my boy has won out, when his coaches yell, good job Venzy, I am pretty sure my head swells (just a little bit).

I could not be more proud of this kid of ours!

sisters

Photobucket

Grace and Zoe are the sweetest sisters...most of the time! They play babies and dress up and Grace is so patient with Zoe.

Photobucket

Grace really is the sweetest little girl, she loves to help with kids and babies and lucky for me she loves to help take care of Zoe. Zoe absolutely adores her and follows her around most of the time saying..."Gracie Girl".

Photobucket

Every once in a while Zoe gets mad and grabs Grace's hair and starts pulling, Grace usually just sits there crying and takes it. We are working on helping Zoe to be nicer and thank goodness for the most part these two get along beautifully.

Photobucket

I don't dress them alike very often, but I have to admit that it is fun when I do. I think I will take advantage of it as long as they will still let me!

Photobucket

I always said, I would have two girls, I just never knew how lucky I would be to get the bonus of a son and two wonderful girls besides!
