bye bye, baba

Guess who does not have a baba (bottle) anymore?

I was tending this little guy with Zoe about two weeks ago and as you can see, they both love their babas! Well last week, I was talking to his mom, my friend and she said they took the baba away last night. I felt pangs of guilt, he is younger than Zoe, I know it is time...way past time some would say. My pediatrician told me a while ago to do it. I am not sure what overtook me to really do it, cold turkey probably a lot of peer pressure, mother's guilt and stubbornness...but we did it! Zoe is officially off the baba, she has not had one since last Wednesday night (which I know is not that long) but there is no turning back now. In fact just today I threw the last of them out which is really kind of sad.

It was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be, she was a bit more whiny for the first few days and screams when we put her down for naps and bedtime for a bit but we are surviving. I should have done it sooner, what I had been dreading is now done! A few tears shed from Zoe and a few more from me and we have reached a new milestone, it is a little bit sad though. Bottles make it seem like they are still babies...sippy cups are a little too grown up. Although, honestly the sippy cups are not that different from bottles so what is the difference anyway (that was my reasoning before making this switch) and I still wonder if there is that much difference other than it makes my pediatrician feel better and I have a little less guilt about ignoring our pediatrician for so long!

I am relieved we did it, so is Gracie who hates to see Zoe cry. Grace just could not believe we took the bottles away and let Zoe cry!

or maybe not

My previous post about spring was a bad idea...maybe I brought back the snow!

I am sitting inside watching a blizzard right now and I really hate seeing snow sitting on my poor little daffodils and tulips! I know I must get over it, this is the way it works around here...spring in Utah is very finicky indeed. Unfortunately, for the people who have to live with me, my mood is so dependent on the weather. Beautiful warm sunny days equal a happy mom full of energy. Snowy, gloomy days like this are quite the opposite and all I want to do is curl up and hibernate until SUMMER is really here.

Soccer season is well underway...

The kids are having fun

And I am really enjoying watching Sage and his team this year. After several years of small fields and chaos, they are really turning into a good little team with a lot less chaos on the field!

Not to dwell on the weather, but it sure would be nice to watch the games without the need for coats and blankets, we love the hugs though.

spring has sprung

Photobucket

Thank you, Mother Nature for the glorious days we have been having. We really needed them at our house, we can handle all the nice warm weather you want to give us!

I love spring,
love the tulips and daffodils
love the buds on the trees
love the sunshine
love the sounds of kids playing outside
love the beginning of BBQs and friends
love picnics, soccer, baseball...love it all!

spring break

We headed out of town for spring...er I mean winter break for easter. We needed some sunshine and warmer weather so we packed up, picked up friends and headed south.

As always, St. George did not fail us (although I would have liked it a bit warmer). We had fun shopping, swimming, hiking, biking, easter egg hunting and keeping 10 kids under control in hotel rooms. It has been a very long time since I have stayed in a hotel room with my kids (maybe never). It will most likely be a long time until we do it again (we prefer condos and houses). Anything that has a place for kids to play, they liked running up and down the halls knocking on doors...not always our own.

I made several attempts to get pictures of all the kids together...never a good one but at least we got all ten of them (Grace is hiding behind the boys).

Zoe and Cooper hanging out...my girls were the only girls among 8 boys!

After swimming the last day, I took Zoe's swimsuit off and was getting things packed up...she fell sound asleep in the middle of the chaos...she was so sweet and so naked!

Wake up little one...time for more fun!

We had an easter egg hunt at Snow Canyon, the kids liked it and we liked eating the candy on the way home!

Could not resist this little bum...

Happy belated Easter and thanks guys for all the fun!
