lost pictures

The other day when we went to the Gateway and I took my point and shoot camera, I found pictures on it from last spring (it's been a while).

It was fun to find them, like finding money in a pocket kind of excitement.

How quickly we forget about those yard/sprinkler projects during the winter months.

One of the only times this dude is still is when he is sleeping...he seems so peaceful (we know better).

I had forgotten about this day, that is why I love pictures, they help preserve the memories!
The kids loved visiting my aunt and uncle's farm and riding Annie the pony.
Sage loved the dogs, he was convinced we were going to bring one of them home (no thanks, we have our hands full with two labs)!

You say it's your birthday...

Happy Birthday

You are a lot of different things
to a lot of different people

but to us...

you are everything!

Somehow for Jeremy's birthday, we spent the day at the Gateway, the weather was pretty nice.

I took my point and shoot camera since it is much smaller and easier (I thought). I could not remember how to use it, I was a mess for the first few pictures.

It was fun seeing the pansies in the flower beds with the tulips peeking up (a sure sign of spring).

We have been talking about going to build-a-bear for a while now...talking, bribing, threatening (you know how it goes) so we finally went.
The kids loved it, Grace did not remember it at all (she was only two last time) so when we got the empty guys, she was wondering why she could not have the display that looked much better.

The stuffing machine was out of stuffing so Grace and Sage got to help fill it up.

Seeing the lines made me wonder what all the economy fuss is about, you certainly would not know it watching all the money being spent in that place (why didn't I come up with that genius idea).

We left with two monkeys, one lamb and three tired kids!

perspective of a four year old

fell asleep in a laundry basket...with blanket in her mouth (of course)

A four year old's perspective...

One day, Grace says,
"the cake will break if you throw it"
I had no idea what she was talking about until I realized that I was playing patty cake a few days earlier with Zoe.

We get dried mangos at Costco and Grace loves them...she calls them flamingos.
She regularly asks me if she can have flamingos for a snack!

Grace typically asks for a couple of chips or a couple of flamingos, a couple of yogurt, a couple of milk...you name it a couple of is all she needs.

I was reading a chapter book to Sage and Grace the other night (no pictures, big step). At one point, I wondered if anyone was paying attention I was talking about a watchdog and after a minute Grace said, let's see if there is a picture of the dog with the watch on. (I guess she was listening after all).

Happy Birthday

We had the BEST day on Friday...

we had our niece Bailey over to play all day since the kids were out of school
we walked over to the park to play...twice

I saw a great friend from high school and 3 of her 5 cute kids
the weather was so beautiful!

My kids even got sunburned a bit (which I am not proud of) but oh we loved the sunshine.

We have spring fever
last week, we cleaned closets, put away sweaters
began cleaning up the yard (a long process)
spring campfires were shared among neighbors cleaning up debris
we saw tulips and daffodil greens peeking up and crocus in bloom

Spring is such a fickle season...
as I sit here, the rain and snow is coming down
our tulips needed a drink!

lucky day

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We hope everyone has a "lucky" day today.

Yesterday was not our best day.
So today is bound to be better.

How bad can it be...
we get to wear green
and eat green food!

6 months

At six months, Zoe is still...

sweet as can be

very spoiled

sitting up

She is not rolling yet (probably due to being spoiled).
She has tried some food but is not very excited about it.
She has a random nap schedule every day.
She is no where near sleeping through the night...

Good thing she is so very Cute!

We love you, little one!

Last year at this time, Jeremy and I went to the Bahamas!
It was so beautiful, the beach, the water, the snorkeling, the pools and the company.

Oh sweet bliss!

I love going on vacation to a warm place this time of year. It is so nice to get out of the yucky end of winter and go somewhere beautiful...it gives you renewed energy.

Spring seems to come a bit sooner.

We planned to go on a trip with my family this year...but with the economic downturn, we decided it was better to wait.
It was the right decision, I know but right now I am dreaming of beaches, waves, warm sun and watching my kids play in the sand.

My two older kids did have a sleepover at my parent's house on Friday night which was great for them and Jeremy and I had a much quieter evening with just Zoe.
We will be happy with that mini-vacation for now.

And I will dream of the Bahamas, Hawaii, the Caribbean (I will be happy anywhere).

There is always next year!

home movies

Last night we had the video camera out recording Zoe eating rice cereal (coming soon in another post). We decided to watch some of our old home movies and the kids loved it, I loved it.
We saw that from an early age, Sage was full of energy, upstaging Grace and tormenting her relentlessly (I guess some things never change).

We also learned that with our first born, we took a lot more video, several tapes worth, less with Grace and not much at all so far of Zoe (we will do better).

We were looking all over for a missing tape, we could not figure out where Grace's first birthday and learning to walk ended up.

we searched everywhere...

Then we found it on the current tape, ouch!
We had been recording over it, we lost about six months worth of stuff (the only good thing about us not recording Zoe much). I guess when the tape ended, rather than taking it out and replacing it with a new one...

we recycled it!

Luckily, we caught it. Lesson learned...

label your tapes.

Recycling is good but not when you record over your middle child (I hope there is no permanent damage).
