2009 was a great year for are some of the highlights

The kids and I visited St. George 4 times

Island Park was an adventure, we visited Yellowstone, floated the rivers, biked and saw bats...
we came home for a new adventure, rabies vaccines for all!

really loved the big snow year

started first grade which he loves

played soccer on the big fields, much better competition
played machine pitch baseball, a step up from T-ball

lost his first tooth...finally
learned to water ski and loved it
turned 7

became a great little reader (which I love)

discovered the fun of playing with friends
started preschool with all of her favorite friends and loves it, including the carpool

loved hanging at the pool

played soccer and did not hate it, maybe even liked it
played T-ball which was not her favorite (or mine)
started dance and tumbling and loves both

turned 4
discovered that she loves Taylor Swift!

big year for Zoe
became an expert sitter
learned to "crawl" or boot scoot...finally
turned 1
learned to walk at 14 months
discovered the joy of popcorn

mastered the art of getting what she wants by pointing, grunting or smiling!

stayed very busy at his job, despite the poor economy
ran the Wasatch Back
coached Sage's baseball
coached Grace's soccer

took a job as Treasurer of Uintah City (1 day per week)
attempted to keep up with the kids and their schedules
gave up on any kind of nap schedule for Zoe

Hopes for 2010...
More vacations of any kind
Zoe will start talking
Grace will love kindergarten as much as she loves preschool
Sage will continue to excel at everything he tries and will love school
Jeremy will have a better year at work with the economy slowly turning around
Nichole will try to figure out how to better plan a day...exercise, naps for Zoe, reading with the girls, reading with Sage and special play and reading time for Grace. Oh and somewhere in there I should add a shower, laundry and cleaning the house once in a while!

Happy New Year!

let it snow

This was our house this morning. I love big fat snowflakes like this!
The kids played while I used the snow blower on our driveway.

Too bad it had to stop, wish it would have snowed all day!

We are all unwrapped, the big holiday is over.
We have been in a toy, baby, coloring, clothing, electronic induced stupor for days!

We did however get all of our Christmas decorations taken down and have found homes for most of the new toys, clothes and gadgets. There are a few stragglers that are hanging around, just waiting to be put away...if only I knew where away might be.

Sage's favorite gift was a remote control car, a rock crawler which can apparently rival any car out there (was this for Santa or Sage?). He also got some useful things like skis, and a bb gun (which was not my idea, nor do I approve). Oh, and Jeremy is using the gun to shoot at all of the deer in our yard. Don't feel too bad about that, they are eating my trees!

Grace and Zoe got lots of clothes, lots of babies, and too many baby accessories to keep track of. Grace's favorite toy(s) has been her babies that she dresses in clothes and jammies every day so far.

Grace gave us a fashion show of all her new clothes, it was so fun. Sage and Zoe on the other hand did not indulge me with a fashion show of their own.

Zoe loves her baby and her big gorilla (everyone loves that gorilla)!

Jeremy totally surprised me with an iPhone which I am so excited about (he got one too). He teases me about being technically challenged so you can imagine my dismay with a tiny new video camera, a new camera lens for my Nikon and a new iPhone...electronic overload!

We had a wonderful holiday and hope everyone else did too!

and to all a good night

Merry Christmas to All and to All a Good Night!

Sunday, December 20, 2009

these are a few of my favorite things...

Babies in jammies and Gracie in tights
Sage reading books all through the night
Kids playing games while laughing together
These are a few of my favorite things
Gracie in dresses and Zoe's little curls
Sage playing soccer or watching the girls
Sleeping children all tucked in their beds
These are a few of my favorite things
Zoe climbing on my lap to read
Grace pretending that she is the lead
Sage having fun with his friends while they play
These are a few of my favorite things
When the kids fight
When the baby cries
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad

(this has always been one of my favorite songs...cheesy I know but I couldn't resist!)

Love them oreos

I had to get some winter oreos (red cream filling) for Sage's school party yesterday...

Lucky for us we had some left over!

These Two

These two are really so funny...
Last week I was going to a book party (Usborne books), I was getting ready to go and Grace and Sage were talking and Sage said, she is going to a baby wash...I looked at him strangely, he was struggling, you could see the wheels turning in his mind but he kept saying, you know a baby wash.

I laughed when I realized that he meant baby shower!  Oh and I guess in his mind that is the only kind of party mom's go to.

Grace is such a delight and she is the sweetest thing (almost all of the time). We were just hanging around while Zoe was asleep and she said, "mom can you be more than one thing when you grow up?" I said of course you could be so she told me that she thinks she will be a cheerleader, and an artist because she can draw really well and that means she will probably be able to paint well too. Then she said, and I will maybe be a mom too! (tears, it was so sweet)!

These two are really trying to figure things out. Sage just does not get why Grace and girls in general are sassy (as he calls them). Grace on the other hand in typical girl fashion can ignore Sage for the most part until he hurts her feelings a bit too much and then we have a dramatic outburst of crying.

With Jeremy growing up with brothers and I had one sister neither of us have experienced life of siblings of the opposite sex growing up together. I keep telling that while he may be annoyed with his little sister and her cute friends playing a few years, he will be the luckiest guy around.

I love these guys, they are so much fun and I love to see how sweet they are with Zoe who adores them both. They keep me grounded, smiling and happily busy!

Lights are outside on the house and trees (never mind they are not all working)

Santa's lists have been checked for anyone changing their minds (done weeks ago)

Shopping has begun...and will continue

Party's over

The party's over...the holiday festivities are officially over!

I am a little late in posting for Thanksgiving, but we were so busy having fun who had the time.

It was so nice to have everyone home for a few days.

The house seems pretty quiet this morning, we are back to reality...laundry, naps, and catching up on everything we neglected. No more lounging in jammies all day, eating popcorn for breakfast and playing all day. At least until next month (tomorrow)!
I love the holidays!

(Zoe carried this bucket of popcorn around the house and ate/spilled every last crumb, she was in heaven)

Terrible Twos?

Have I mentioned that Zoe is feisty?  She has a bit of an attitude throws fits that could rival any two year old out there. Should I be worried? She is only 1, 14 months to be exact...don't I have a few more months before the terrible twos begin?
Maybe we are getting them out of the way now, early...I am pretty sure Sage and Grace were not so opinionated, certainly not this early in life.

Thank goodness these little beauties don't happen too often.

Smart little thing, for sure!
Spoiled, most definitely!
Sweet as can be on her terms...absolutely!

bye bye scooter

My baby walks...she has turned her boot scoot in for walking!

She has been walking for at least a week now, I thought if I did not write about it, did not mark it on the calendar, if I just ignored would not be so, she cannot be growing up this fast!

It is the cutest thing in the world to see her walk around, she is still so tiny. Should she really be walking when she is still in an infant car seat facing backwards (will she ever get to 20 lbs.)?

Sage and Grace are thrilled because every day she becomes just a little faster and wants to play with them just a bit more. I was in my room the other day and the kids were hanging out with me. After a few minutes, Sage left as he usually does to find something more interesting to do, Grace followed and Zoe toddled out the door after them. It was a bittersweet moment for me. I love that Zoe loves her siblings and follows along with them, but I am so sad that she would rather have fun with them than hang with me!

She seems like such a little person now. I am so sad to see my baby growing up, I already miss my "scooter boo"! Thank goodness she still cuddles with me when the kids are at school!

Happy Halloween

The kids were out of school Thursday and Friday so we have had a long eventful weekend.
We have had lots of parties...

Fun playing with friends...

Loved dressing up...
And way too many late nights!
I am hoping for an early bed time tonight
(thanks Daylight Savings - I may be enjoy it tonight but I will hate you in the morning)
